Associate Director at Turner & Townsend
Andy is the Vice Chair for the CIOB London Hub, as well as being Associate Director at Turner and Townsend. He has a long and varied career in construction, across several disciplines and markets.
His EDI Journey started whilst being an A level student at college, and seeing the representation across all different demographics of students bringing an understanding then the variances and nuances that all people require.
Andy is the UKs Co-National Lead for Gender Balance in Turner and Townsend, as well as being instrumental in his cost centre in London for ensuring all EDI considerations are adopted. He has also through his sporting background worked with coaches for the Paralympics prior to the 2012 games. His focus is on gender balance, as it encompasses 50% of the population that is largely disengaged from construction and they incorporate all other groups we talk about in diversity. It therefore has the capacity to address skills gaps and diversity simultaneously. To address the Gender Balance men have to realise that they are restricted by stereotypes too, which in-turn reinforces limiting, whether through self-belief or career development, of archaic female stereotypes.
